This unique piece of ceramic art from Jenz Studio is inspired by New Zealand (and Pacific) plants and icons, and by traditional Maori arts like flax weaving and carving. The glaze colours used are predominantly natural with the exception of refreshing vibrant reds and turquoises. Pieces from the Jenz Studio range make a meaningful gift or unique artwork to suit any space. They all come packaged (ready for sending overseas !) with in-built hooks to hang them up and includes a card which explains the significance of this design NZ Garden set includes our beautiful Nikau Palm, Cabbage Tree & the Flax Nikau Palm (many leaves from one stalk) The nikau is found mostly in coastal areas and warmer inland forests of the North Island. Traditionally parts of the palm were used for medicinal purposes and also for food.
Cabbage Tree - Maori Name : Ti Kouka Cabbage trees are found in open spaces, wetlands, and scrub-lands of the North and South Islands. Maori used Ti Kouka as a food and as a fibre for weaving.
Flax - Maori Name : Harakeke Flax grows all throughout New Zealand as it is very prolific and adaptable. It was used and is still used by Maori to make kete, rope and many other things.
